Co Creators X Twinks Burnett
A little while back the wondrous creatures at Co Creators stepped into the studio to spend a day in the depths of my colour cave, where we discussed anything and everything from Imagination to my greatest fears and inspirations.
I am honoured to have entered their creative hall of fame, being the first female and UK based artist to be featured. Catherine Koppel the lovely lady behind the lense was a spectacular specimen to spend a day with and I think she really understood and appreciated what I have worked so hard to achieve.
My brand was something of a beautiful accident; I had always expressed myself through aesthetic style and playing dress up. Being able to frolic freely within the fantasy world of festivals has hugely moulded my personal style as well as that of the brand.
I create pieces for peacocks and party girls, ladies who want to adorn their crown chakras with something sassy with a touch of silly. My customers are always the most fun ones in the fields and I love seeing flash of feather that I know I created, in a packed crowd. As I tell my Twinklettes... I will always find you!
Every piece is handmade in hackney by my fair hands. I put a lot of love into each one and love to see snaps of my sassy style sistas having it large, seeing exquisite specimens saunter around literally makes my heart sing! That’s why I do it. I love to be part of the process; I love to make people feel fabulous about themselves.
My wants, loves and needs are deeply rooted in the strength and support of independent brands. I am very blessed to be in the position where I straddle both creative roles of stylist and designer. That’s what I hope comes across in this talk. Being able to wear garments made by independent talent, being able to support the smaller, self-made labels is so very important for the creative economy. Get to know who made your clothes, where and why. I promise knowing the facts of where you get your fashion will make you adore your apparel so much more, it gives getting dressed a sense of smug satisfaction.
My passion is to seek out and champion those independent designers creating something exceptional. Wear them. Support them. Collaborate with them and therefore be part of the new movement, the next generation on of cutting edge sustainable fashion. I make hats because I am obsessed with the art of getting dressed. To wear a hat is to make a statement, is to be noticed, when you wear one of mine you will most definitely be noticed. Seek the limelight my darlings and shine on…
